How did the dinosaurs become extinct?

The extinction of dinosaurs is a controversial topic, but it is generally believed that they suffered a mass extinction event at the end of the Cretaceous period, about 66 million years ago. There are dozens of different theories that attempt to explain this event, but the most widely accepted view is the planetary impact hypothesis.


According to this hypothesis, a giant meteorite with a diameter of about 10 kilometers hit the current Gulf of Mexico area, triggering a series of explosions and earthquakes, and producing a large amount of volcanic activity and climate change. These events led to environmental disasters on a global scale, including large-scale volcanic eruptions, climate warming, and rising sea levels, which destroyed the habitats of dinosaurs and the stability of the food chain, and ultimately led to their extinction.


In addition, there are other theories that the extinction of dinosaurs may have been caused by a combination of factors, including extreme climate change, ocean acidification, plague, solar radiation, etc. However, no matter which explanation is used, it cannot fully explain the cause of the extinction of dinosaurs, and there are still many unsolved mysteries on this issue.
