Cat coughing can be caused by a variety of reasons, including the following common causes:

1. Airway infection: Infections with bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms can cause inflammation of the throat and airways, causing cats to cough.

2. Bronchitis: Bronchitis is a common respiratory disease that can cause symptoms such as coughing, sputum production, and asthma in cats.

3. Respiratory allergies: Cats may be allergic to dust, pollen, smoke or other irritating substances, causing coughing and difficulty breathing.

4. Heart disease: Heart disease may cause cats to wheeze and cough, especially after strenuous activity or at night.

5. Parasitic infection: Parasitic infection in the lungs or airways may also cause cats to cough.

6. Foreign objects: If your cat swallows foreign objects, such as hair, plastic bags or other small objects, these foreign objects may get stuck in the respiratory tract, causing coughing and difficulty breathing.

If you find that your cat coughs frequently or has other unusual symptoms, please take your cat to the veterinarian promptly. A veterinarian can diagnose the condition and take appropriate treatment to ensure your cat's health and happiness.
