The Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology (IVPP) is a research institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, founded in 1928. Its main mission is to conduct research and education in the fields of paleontology and paleoanthropology, including systematic and comprehensive research on life forms, evolutionary history and environmental changes of dinosaurs, mammals, early humans, etc.

Specifically, IVPP's research content includes but is not limited to:

1. Paleontology: Study the morphology, structure, classification and evolutionary history of various living and extinct organisms, with a focus on dinosaurs, reptiles, birds, mammals, etc.

2. Paleoanthropology: Study the origin, evolutionary process, culture and environmental adaptation of humans and their close relatives, such as the remains and relics of ancient humans such as Peking Man, Yuanmou Man, Common Man, Zhoukoudian Man, etc.

3. Ecological environment evolution: Through the study of rocks, fossils, climate records, etc., explore the differences between land and sea, climate change, ecosystem transformation and other issues in the history of the earth, as well as the impact of these events on biological evolution and human evolution.

In addition to research, IVPP is also committed to popular science and social services. Its research results on dinosaurs, ancient humans, etc. have received widespread attention and dissemination, and it has also provided relevant exhibitions, popular science activities and educational training for the public.
