What kind of turtles can be mixed with tortoises?

Grass Turtles are a type of small tortoise, usually small in size and relatively mild-mannered. They can be mixed with some other species of turtles, but there are a few things to note:

1. Turtles of the same size: When in mixed breeding, try to choose turtles that are similar in size to tortoises as partners. This will help reduce the likelihood of attacking each other or competing for food.

2. Similar needs and habits: Choose turtles that have similar feeding requirements and living habits to tortoises. For example, choose turtles that prefer both terrestrial and aquatic habitats to ensure they can coexist comfortably in a common habitat.

3. Observe behavior: When introducing new turtles to a tortoise's habitat, closely observe their interactions. If you notice any aggressive attacking, biting or chasing behavior, separate them immediately to prevent injury or stress.

Here are some suggestions for turtles that are relatively easy to house with tortoises:

- Greek Tortoise

- Eastern Box Turtle

- Painted Turtle

- Mud Turtle

Keep in mind that mixing different species of turtles requires some observation and management, and the right mix for a mix may vary among individuals. Before mixing, make sure to provide adequate habitat space, proper temperature and diet, and monitor their health and behavior. If there are any signs of fighting or disharmony, separate them immediately to avoid injury and stress. It is best to consult an experienced turtle breeder or veterinarian for more specific advice and guidance before mixing.
