How to differentiate between male and female rabbits

To distinguish the gender of rabbits, you can pay attention to the following aspects:

1. External genitals: There are obvious differences in the external genitals of male rabbits (male) and female rabbits (female). Male rabbits will have a protruding penis (above the scrotum), while female rabbits will have a vertically aligned vaginal opening.

2. Sense of distance: Generally speaking, there is a larger distance between the two hind legs of male rabbits to accommodate the testicles. The distance between the two hind legs of a female rabbit is relatively small because that is the space used for giving birth.

3. Behavioral performance: After reaching sexual maturity, male rabbits may show more aggressive and proactive behaviors, such as kicking, biting, spraying urine, etc. This is to show their territory and attract female rabbits. Female rabbits may show more gentle and submissive behavior, especially during estrus, and may actively approach male rabbits.

4. Anatomical examination: If you are not sure about the gender of your rabbit, the most certain way is to have an autopsy performed by a veterinarian. They can determine the sex of a rabbit by looking inside the gonads.

It's important to note that determining the gender of a rabbit may require some experience and careful observation, especially with younger rabbits. If you are unsure or confused, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian or other professional for help and confirmation.
