Do cats get feline plague for no reason?

Feline distemper is a serious viral disease also known as Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). Current scientific research believes that feline plague is caused by a virus called Feline Coronavirus (FCoV).

Feline coronavirus is relatively common in cat populations, but not all cats infected with feline coronavirus will develop feline distemper. In fact, most cats infected with feline coronavirus will only experience mild respiratory symptoms or recover on their own without any obvious symptoms.

However, a small proportion of feline coronavirus-infected cats may develop feline distemper. Although the specific cause is not completely clear, research shows that the development of feline distemper may be related to various factors such as the mutation of virus strains, the cat's immune status, and genetic factors.

Therefore, feline plague does not occur for no reason, but is related to the individual condition of the cat and the mutation of the virus. In order to prevent feline plague, cat owners should pay attention to maintaining a good sanitary environment, providing adequate nutrition and immunity, and taking preventive measures such as regular vaccinations.
