Tiger (scientific name: Panthera tigris) is a large cat belonging to the phylum Mammalia, order Carnivora, and family Felidae. Tigers are one of the largest cats in the world and one of the most iconic wild animals.

Tigers typically live in the forests, swamps and grasslands of Asia, as well as in parts of the mountains and deserts. They are characterized by their solitary movement and are apex predators, mainly hunting mongooses (such as deer, wild boar, buffalo, etc.) and other medium-sized animals.

Tigers usually have tawny fur with black stripes on their bodies, sometimes on a background of other colors, which gives them good concealment capabilities in dense vegetation.

Currently, the number of tigers in the wild is small, mainly due to habitat destruction, illegal hunting and illegal trade. Due to these threats, tigers are listed as endangered and are protected by various agencies and organizations, including the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
