Eupherusa cyanophrys

Blue-topped hummingbirds generally have blue or green plumage, lighter underbody, and some males have crests or long tail feathers. Most of the males are blue-green, but some are purple, red, or yellow. The female has a darker plumage.

There are also hummingbirds that live in wet marshes. The blue-topped hummingbird is found only in the Americas, from southern Canada and Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, including the West Indies. The northern hummingbird is the most common species in the western United States and Canada. Only the red-throated northern hummingbird breeds in eastern North America, but individual members of other species of hummingbird ("accidentals" in birding jargon) can also be seen in eastern North America, sometimes as nomads from Cuba or the Bahamas.
