The Sunda woodpecker is found in the Pacific islands, including China's Taiwan Province, Dongsha Islands, Paracel Islands, Zhongsha Islands, and Spratly Islands, as well as the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia's Sumatra, Java, and Papua New Guinea.
