The Middle Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocoptes medius, Picoides medius, or Middle Spotted Woodpecker) is a European woodpecker。

The medium-spotted woodpecker is found only in Europe and Southwest Asia, from northern Spain and eastern France to Poland and Ukraine, and south to central Italy (locally), the Balkans, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey, the Caucasus and Iran. Due to its endemic nature, it has never been recorded in the UK.
Middle-spotted woodpeckers prefer deciduous forest areas, especially those with old oaks, horned trees, and elms, and habitats with dense woodlands, grasslands, and forest clearings.
