The Okinawan woodpecker is solitary, nests in tree cavities, and moves frequently according to food availability. It can make 4 to 7 consecutive chirps in one minute. It feeds on the parasitoid, but also forages on the ground. They mostly eat insects in spring and summer, and eat plants and trees in autumn and winter.
