Grey-throated Needle-tailed Swift's breeding season is between February and March. It nests in rock caves and tree holes. The nest is made of moss and is tightly bonded together with saliva. Each nest lays 3 eggs.

The distribution range of the gray-throated needle-tailed swift is very large, and it is not close to the critical value of vulnerable and endangered species survival (distribution area or fluctuation range is less than 20,000 square kilometers, habitat quality, population size, and distribution area fragmentation). The population trend is stable, so it is evaluated as a species without survival crisis.
