Rhinogobio typus belongs to the order Cypriniformes, family Cyprinidae, subfamily Rhinogobio, and genus Rhinogobio typus. Commonly known as: Ma Gan, Qiuzi, long-nosed poplar fish.
The body is slender, with the front section cylindrical, the rear section slender and slightly flattened, and the abdomen slightly flat. The head is pointed and tapered, and its length is longer than the body height; the tip of the snout is long and protrudes forward significantly.
