The common name of high-fin surgeonfish is: sail-fin hanging upside down. The height of the dorsal fin is approximately equal to the body height. There is one forward spine on each side of the caudal peduncle. There is a brown band on the side of the head. The muzzle and cheeks are densely covered with pinpoint orange spots. There are fine golden yellow horizontal stripes on the sides of the body, sandwiched between 5-6 wide brown horizontal bands and alternating light-colored narrow horizontal bands. The dorsal and anal fins have multiple fins. Vertical lines. Body length 130mm.


Distribution: South China Sea, Taiwan, tropical Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean.
