The leatherback turtle's carapace has seven longitudinal ribs and no scutes. The head is about 25 centimeters wide and the carapace is about 1.9 meters long. The limbs are flipper-shaped and have no claws. The forelimbs are very long and the hind limbs are short. The head and flippers are covered by scaleless skin. The body cover color is mainly black with varying degrees of white spots, and the abdomen is light in color. Good at swimming. Feed on invertebrates, fish, seaweed, etc. Leatherback turtles are distributed along the coast of China. During the reproductive period, they crawl to the beach to lay eggs. It is a Category II protected animal in China.
