In many countries and regions, porcupines are considered wild animals and protected. However, this is not true globally. In some places, porcupines are considered pests or hunting targets and receive no special protection. Overall, in most countries and regions, porcupines are considered an important natural resource and receive some degree of protection.

In my country, porcupines are listed as secondary protected animals. This means that hunting, selling and exchanging them and their products is illegal and protected by law. However, in reality, the number of porcupines is still declining, mainly due to reasons such as habitat loss and over-hunting. Therefore, more measures need to be taken to protect porcupines and their habitat to ensure their survival and reproduction.

The porcupine is a mammal that belongs to the family Hedgehog. They typically live in habitats such as forests, grasslands and swamps in regions such as Europe, Asia, Africa and New Zealand. Porcupines' backs are covered with defensive armor composed of stiff bristles and thick quills to protect them from predators. Porcupines have a round, thick, and flexible body with short but strong legs that allow them to run or dig quickly.

Porcupines feed primarily on insects, small invertebrates, frogs, lizards, bird eggs, and a variety of berries and nuts. They are nocturnal animals, hiding in trees, grass or caves to sleep during the day, and coming out to look for food at night. Porcupines can smell food to find food and have a very keen sense of smell and hearing.

The breeding season of porcupines is in spring. Female porcupines will give birth to 2-4 cubs. The cubs can leave their mothers after a lactation period of about 30 days after birth. The lifespan of a porcupine is usually around 3-7 years.

Porcupines play an important role in the ecosystem, helping to maintain ecological balance by controlling the populations of insects and other small animals. In addition, porcupines are also a popular ornamental animal and are loved by people.
