What to do if you find a little hamster

If you pick up a baby hamster, be sure to take the following steps:

1. Protect your hamster: Place your hamster in a safe and comfortable environment, away from pets and other animals that may endanger its safety. You can use a small seed cage or similar container to house it, and add some comfy bedding and food (such as dog food or seeds).

2. Find the owner: Try your best to find and contact people who may have lost the hamster, including through social media, posting ads, calling, etc.

3. Take your hamster to the veterinarian: If you cannot find the owner, take your hamster to the veterinarian for an examination and physical health assessment. You can also have your veterinarian scan the hamster's microchip to find out if there is an owner and help find them.

4. Consider Adoption: If you are unable to find an owner for your hamster and you would like to adopt it, check with a local pet store, adoption agency or rescue group in your area for information on how to adopt a pet hamster and provide the necessary care and protection.

It's important to note that wild hamsters are generally not suitable as pets because they can carry diseases, be difficult to tame, and can be aggressive toward humans and other animals. Therefore, if the hamster you pick up is wild, return it to a local animal rescue or public wildlife conservation organization.
