"Dada's tortoise" usually refers to the rhinoceros-horned tortoise (Ceratophrys ornata), which is also known as the "South American horned tortoise", "horned toad turtle", "Dalmatian horned frog", etc. This reptile is native to the Amazon Basin of South America and the grasslands and swamps of Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and other regions.
The rhinoceros-horned tortoise is a large amphibian with a body length of about 10-20 cm, a maximum of 30 cm, and a weight of more than 1 kg. They have very strong limbs and sharp mouths and can prey on various insects, arthropods, fish and small mammals. In low temperature and drought environments, they can enter a dormant state to adapt to environmental changes.
Rhino-horned tortoises are often kept as pets abroad because they look similar to desert tortoises and are easy to keep. However, it has not yet been legally imported into China, and it is not recommended to breed or purchase it privately.
