Culter dabryi belongs to the order Cypriniformes, family Cyprinidae, subfamily Culter, and genus Culter. Commonly known as: Qingshaozi, high-headed bream.


The body is long, the sides are flat, the back of the head is straight, the back is bulging behind the head, and it is slightly hunchback-shaped. The head is small and pointed, the mouth is slightly upward, and the lower jaw protrudes in front of the upper jaw. There are ventral ribs from the base of the pelvic fin to the anus, the dorsal fin has smooth hard spines, and the pelvic fins are deeply bifurcated. The back is dark gray and the sides are silvery white; each fin is gray and the lower leaf of the caudal fin is bluish gray.

Daphne's fin is a fish that lives in the middle and upper layers of still water lakes and is rare in rivers. It usually likes to live in the shallow waters of lakes and bays with a water depth of about 1 meter, diving in the lush aquatic plants and hunting for small fish and shrimps. Breeding activities are carried out in these places from late April to July, and they spend the winter in deep lakes.


Widely distributed, this fish grows in Heilongjiang, Liaohe River, Yellow River, Huaihe River, Yangtze River, Qiantang River, Pearl River, Minjiang River and other water systems.


Growth is slow. The shape, meat quality, economic value, and medicinal value are all similar to Mongolian quintuple. The natural output is less than that of Mongolian bream, and it is also a common edible fish.
