Feature
The skin is rough and the entire back is covered with warts, and the color of the back is mostly yellow-green or brown.
Details
Ye's anal thorn frog is also known as Ye's bulging anal frog. Adult frogs live in and around streams with fast currents. They often hide in cracks or under large rocks during the day and go ashore to look for food at night. Their food is mainly insects. The breeding season is from May to August, and the eggs are laid under the rocks. In late October, the frog hibernates in caves in the stream, and the hibernation period is about 6 months. Tadpoles mostly live under rocks in ponds.
Endemic to China. The population of this frog has decreased due to the decline in the ecological environment quality of its habitat and over-capture.
Listed in the second level of the "List of National Key Protected Wildlife in China".
Location
Endemic to China, distributed in Henan (Shangcheng) and Anhui (Huoshan, Qianshan, Jinzhai, Yuexi).
Lives in and near fast-flowing streams in forested mountainous areas at an altitude of 320-560m.
Form
The back is yellow-green or brown; there are gray-brown spots on the throat, and the markings on the ventral surface of the body are not obvious or have broken spots; the ventral surfaces of the limbs are orange with brown spots. The width of the head is greater than the length of the head; the roundness of the tympanic membrane is not obvious; the temporal folds are obvious. The back is covered with warts; the ventral surface is smooth.
