The main food of fur seals is squid, but they also eat various fish such as herring, sardines, and herrings. Generally, they eat at dawn and sleep at night. Fur seals are distributed in the northern hemisphere waters north of 35° north latitude, and are occasionally seen in the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea. The fur of fur seals has excellent texture and can be processed into various coats and jackets; the testicles and penis are called "seal kidneys" or "navel" and can be used for medicinal purposes.
