The Chinese white dolphin is also known as the Chinese white dolphin and Pacific hump dolphin. The snout is long and narrow. The dorsal fin is low and triangular in shape, with a long base and a blunt tip. Fins short and wide. The trailing edge of the caudal fin is concave, with a deep notch. The caudal lobes overlap at the notch, and the left lobe presses the right lobe, or the right lobe is on top and the left lobe is on the bottom. This is one of the important characteristics of this species.

The body color varies greatly depending on the region and age. The larvae are grayish white, and the adults are milky white with gray spots scattered on the head, sides, flippers and tail fins.


There are 32 to 36 teeth on each side of the upper and lower jaws. The adult body length can reach 2.5 meters. Weight 225 kg.


They do not gather into large groups. They usually swim alone or in groups of more than ten individuals. There are rarely groups of more than ten individuals. They mostly inhabit coastal areas and estuaries, often entering rivers. They are lively and like to jump out of the water, often swimming with boats. The mother dolphin has strong caressing behavior towards her cubs. Fish is the main food.


It is distributed in the East China Sea and South China Sea of ​​my country.
