The fleshy acornworm (scientific name: Balanoglossus carnosus) is an enterobranchial animal distributed in the coastal areas of the western Pacific and the northeastern Indian Ocean, belonging to the genus Abalanoglossus of the family Balanoglossidae.
Included in the "China National Key Protected Wild Animals List" Level 2.
Location
Domestically distributed in Hainan. Distributed abroad in Japan, Maldives, New Caledonia and other places. It inhabits intertidal zones and lurks on sandy or muddy bottoms.
Form
The snout is small and the collar is long, with an obvious hanging ring in the center of the collar. The wings are narrow at the beginning, widest at the back of the gill area, and end abruptly at the end, and then the wings spread out straight. There are many white epidermal hillocks on the inner surface of the reproductive wing near the base. There is generally a transition zone between the genital wing and the liver. The liver sacs in the liver area are arranged in 2 rows.
