Although the yarrow is not a cold-water fish, it likes to live in river mouths or mountain stream tributaries with slow currents, gravelly bottoms, and clear water quality. It is relatively rare in completely still water. They like to move in groups and often form a large group. They float on the upper layer of the water every evening in summer, making the water surface look like raindrops. Yaluo fish has an obvious migration pattern. As soon as the river begins to thaw, it migrates upstream in groups to spawn and migrate, then enters the lakeshore and riverside for fattening, and enters deep water to overwinter in winter. Yaro is an omnivorous fish, feeding mainly on stems, leaves and detritus of higher plants, followed by insects, and occasionally small fish. 3. Winter-aged fish begin to reach sexual maturity, and the reproductive season begins earlier when the water temperature reaches 4-8°C. The eggs are laid on gravel or other attachments. The number of eggs carried is about 10,000, and the diameter of the eggs is 2.2 mm. The growth rate is not fast. 4-winter-old fish is the maximum growth age. Generally, the captured group is dominated by fish with a body length of 15-19 cm and an age of 3-4 years old.
Yaluo fish is mainly distributed in various water systems in the Heilongjiang River Basin, among which the Heilongjiang water system is the most common. In addition, this fish is also found in the lower reaches of the Yellow River, Luanhe River, Daihai Lake, and Dalinol Lake. The number is small, and it is also distributed in the upper reaches of Heilongjiang in Russia.
Yaluo fish are not large in size, with the largest individual being about 37 cm long and weighing about 0.5-0.75 kg. This fish is delicious but not rich in fat. Our country's Yaluo fish resources are relatively abundant. Due to their swarming habits and easy fishing, the Heilongjiang Basin has a high yield. The output of Wuliangsuhai in Inner Mongolia is second only to carp and crucian carp. It is listed as an important economic fish in the Northeast region and the middle reaches of the Yellow River. However, it is very easy to die after being caught. Because the abdominal body wall is thin and easy to rupture, causing intestinal waste to leak out, the market price is lower than other fish. In recent years, this fish has begun to be stocked in lakes and reservoirs due to its strong reproductive capacity.
