Feature
The head is flat, and the trunk is about 3 times the length of the head; the tail ends in a blunt tip. The skin on the back of the body is smooth, with a longitudinal groove in the middle of the dorsal spine.
Details
Alishan Small Salamander is an animal of the genus Small Salamander of the family Small Salamander. It lives in the middle and high mountainous areas with lush vegetation at an altitude of 2000 to 3650 m. Adults often live in slow-flowing streams under forests, swamps and places with rich mosses. Adults can be found in streams from March to April, and juveniles can be seen in mid-July. They may breed in streams.
Listed in the 2013 Red List of Endangered Species of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) ver3.1—Near Threatened (NT).
Listed in the China Biodiversity Red List - Vertebrate Volume, the assessment level is Vulnerable (VU).

Location
Endemic to China, distributed in Taiwan (Alishan, Yushan to Dawushan).
Lives in middle and high mountainous areas with lush vegetation at an altitude of 1800-3650m.
Form
The head is flat, longer than wide; the snout is rounded, the nostrils are close to the snout, and there is no lip fold; there is no door; the vomerine tooth row is 1-shaped, the inner branch is very long, the rear section is arc-shaped, and the left and right are not connected. The back is dark brown, tea brown or light brown, the small ones are dark brown, most individuals have no spots, some are densely covered with yellowish brown dots; some individuals have small white spots scattered on the back; the ventral surface is light in color, slightly milky yellow.
