       Round-eared bats are nocturnal bats that feed on small insects. It lives in tropical or subtropical areas, in forests and agroforestry areas at altitudes of 250-1500m. In Southeast Asia, it mainly inhabits tropical rainforests, but is also more common in coastal areas. It is most commonly found in leaves, such as under the dead or dried leaves of cardamom, but has also been plucked from small caves and rock shelters. Very similar to the mesotubular-nosed bat (<Murina huttoni), the specimens are relatively few.


It has been included in the Chinese Red List of Biodiversity - Vertebrate volume, and the assessment level is near threatened NT.

It is distributed in Jiangxi, Hainan and Guangdong in China. It is distributed abroad in the Indochina Peninsula (Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam), the Lesser Sunda Islands, Sri Lanka, India, the Philippines, and the western regions of Sumatra and Kalimantan Island in Malaysia.
It is a medium-sized tube-nosed bat. Forearm length 33-38mm. The nose is tubular, with longitudinal furrows. The ear shell is nearly round, the outer edge of the tragus is thin, and the tip is conical. The femur, shin, and base of the tail are hairy, and the dorsal hairs of the feet are thick and extend beyond the toes. The dorsal hair is bright russet brown, and the hair base is mostly brown. Tail tip free. The back of the tail, legs, and hind feet are covered with hair, but the abdomen is nearly bare. Females are slightly larger than males.
