Name:Murina shuipuensis
Alias:Murina shuipuensis
Outline:Chiroptera
Family:Chiroptera batidae tubenosed-bats
IUCN:LC
Shuifu tubnosed bat was described by Eger and Lim in 2011 based on a male specimen collected from Shuipu Village, Yuping Town, Libo County, Guizhou, China, at an altitude of 650m.
Wang Xiaoyun et al. (2016) reported a new distribution of this species in Guangdong and Jiangxi based on some molecular marker results. However, recent further analysis showed that the specimens from Guangdong and Jiangxi were similar to the tube-nosed bats described by Chen et al. (2017), and the validity of the latter needs to be further verified.
The bat is small, with forearms 30 to 35mm long. The nostrils protrude into short tubes, facing left and right, the nose and chin are black, and the rest of the face is lighter. The ears are small and round, with concave posterior edges, long tragus tips, and beige hair at the back of the auricle. The dorsal hair is a 3-color band: the base is dark gray, the middle is light yellow, and the tip is black. The abdomen is orange, the throat is short, the hair base is grayish white, the tip is light yellow to orange; The rest of the abdomen is a 2-color band with a black base and a grayish white to orange tip. The alar membrane extends to the base of the 1st toe. The skull is small, the frontal rostral process is significant, the sagittal ridge is absent, and the herringbone ridge is not obvious. The maxillary incisors are tight but have a distinct gap with the canine teeth, the former being 1/2 the height of the latter. Gear type: 2.1.2.3/3.1.2.3=34.
