The arboreal bat is a rare tree-dwelling bat. It inhabits mountainous forests or clusters of dead leaves, living singly or in small groups. They feed on insects. It was a new species published by Furey et al. (2009), and reported by Francis & Eger (2012) as a new record species in China from samples collected from Guangxi and Guizhou. Traditionally, the small, golden-haired tubnosed bat species has been identified as the golden (small) tubnosed bat (<Murina aurata). However, there are differences in tooth morphology: the upper canine height of the former is obviously higher than that of the second premolar, while the upper canine height of the latter is slightly equal to or lower than that of the second premolar. The mandibular length and lower dentition length were larger than that of the gold-nosed bat.

It is distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan and Guizhou in China. It is only found abroad in Vietnam.
Forearm length 30-33mm. The ears are short and broad, nearly oval. The tragus is narrow and pointy at the end. The nostrils are tubular and slightly longer. The wing membrane is wide and ends at the outer edge of the toe base. The interfemoral membrane begins at the base and ends about 1mm from the posterior margin of the interfemoral membrane. The back is covered with short soft hairs, mixed with long fine hairs, which are dark tawny with golden tones on the tips. There is no long fine hair on the abdomen, the hair color is gray. The forearm and interfemoral membranes are covered with short yellow hairs; The short hairs on the dorsal abdomen of the feet are black.
