The arboreal bat is a rare tree-dwelling bat. It inhabits mountainous forests or clusters of dead leaves, living singly or in small groups. They feed on insects. It was a new species published by Furey et al. (2009), and reported by Francis & Eger (2012) as a new record species in China from samples collected from Guangxi and Guizhou. Traditionally, the small, golden-haired tubnosed bat species has been identified as the golden (small) tubnosed bat (<Murina aurata). However, there are differences in tooth morphology: the upper canine height of the former is obviously higher than that of the second premolar, while the upper canine height of the latter is slightly equal to or lower than that of the second premolar. The mandibular length and lower dentition length were larger than that of the gold-nosed bat.
