Details
Painted bats are rare in number and fly around tea groves, banana groves, lychee groves and houses to feed. In recent years they have been caught in the young leaves of banana plantations in Haikou and Sanya. They feed on insects.
Painted bats live in forests and under leaves. This species is found in the Indian Peninsula. Kerivoula picta belissima (Canton subspecies), named by Thomas in 1906. This species is found in Guangdong Province.
Conservation status of painted bats is not at risk (IUCN 3.1)
Location
It is distributed in Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian and Guizhou provinces. It is distributed abroad in Cambodia, Thailand, India, Vietnam and Indonesia and other South and Southeast Asian regions.
Form
They are small and colorful. Forearm length 37-49mm. Weight 8-10g. The ear shell is large, the ear base is tubular, slightly funnel-shaped, the inner edge of the ear is raised, and the tragus is slender and lanceolate. The alar membrane is attached to the base of the toe. The 5th metacarpal bone is longer than the 3rd and 4th metacarpals, and the wings appear short and wide. Short black hair on the back of the feet; The dorsal ventral hair is orange, but the ventral hair is light. The forearms, palms, and fingers are orange in color, but the membranes between the fingers are dark brown.
