Which came first, the existing chicken or the existing egg? What is the answer?

This question has been controversial and there is no definite answer. From an evolutionary perspective, birds evolved from reptiles, so the original "eggs" were probably laid by an ancestor that was very similar to, but not identical to, chickens. So it can be said that the first egg that hatched into a chicken was laid by an ancestor that was slightly different from the chicken.

However, from a biological and genetic perspective, we usually think of the chicken before the egg, because random mutations will occur during DNA replication, leading to the gradual formation of new species, and these mutations may at some stage allow An organism is recognized as a new species (e.g. chicken). Therefore, from this perspective, we can think that the chicken comes first and then the egg.
