The provincial bird of Jiangsu Province is the white crane. The white crane, also known as the red-crowned crane, is one of the protected animals in my country and one of the species on the Red List of Endangered Species of the World Conservation Union. The white crane is tall and graceful, and is one of the symbolic birds in Chinese traditional culture, with important ecological and cultural value.

In 1986, the Jiangsu Provincial Government recognized the white crane as the provincial bird of Jiangsu Province. This decision was mainly based on the following reasons: First, Jiangsu is one of the main habitats of the white crane, and the number of white cranes in Jiangsu Province is relatively large, which is of great significance to the maintenance of the local ecological environment and biodiversity; secondly, the white crane has a long history and strong national sentiment in Chinese culture. They are regarded as auspicious birds and symbols of longevity, and have a high symbolic significance; finally, as an endangered species with important ecological and cultural value, the protection and research of the white crane is also an important step for Jiangsu Province to vigorously implement the ecological civilization construction and sustainable development strategy.

In short, as the provincial bird of Jiangsu Province, the white crane is not only an important part of the local ecosystem and cultural heritage, but also an important cognition and action for people to protect the natural environment and biodiversity.
