Katanga or Angola Lion (Panthera leo bleyenberghi): Found in Angola, southern Congo, and Zambia.
Transvaal Lion (Panthera leo krugeri): Measures 2.7 to 3 meters in length; inhabits southern Africa.
Kalahari Lion (Panthera leo vernayi): Present in Kalahari and nearby reserves, recovering in certain areas.
Asiatic lion is critically endangered, with only about 600 individuals remaining in the wild.
